Do You Know That God Exists?

Hebrews 11:6
"
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

Either God exists or He does not. There is no middle ground.

Regarding the existence of God, there are various views:

The atheist says, "I know that God does not exist."
The
skeptic says, "I doubt that God exists."
The
agnostic says, "I cannot know that God exists."
The
theist says, "I know the God does exist."

Paths to Knowledge

1) Knowledge which comes from our five senses. This is called empirical knowledge.
2)
Testimony. This is based upon the truthfulness of the one providing you the information, whether you have seen it for yourself or not. You must ask yourself, "Is this person reliable?" Obviously, there is a problem if you trust one who is not truthful or one who has given you incorrect information.

Traits of God - His integrity is above question

Titus 1:2 "..God, who cannot lie.."
Hebrews 6:18 "..It is impossible for God to lie.."
Therefore, whatever He tells us is absolute truth. (2 Timothy 1:12)

So then, based on God's own testimony, we can know that God exists.

Proofs, Reasons, Arguments for the existence of God

The cosmological argument - cause and effect
We observe the effects in the world and conclude from this that there is an initial cause. (Acts 14:17; Romans 1:18-21; Hebrews 3:4)

The teleological argument - design demands a designer
(Psalms 19:1-6; Psalms 104:24; Psalms 139:14; Job 12:7-10)

The moral argument - our moral law within
God made us in His image. He gave man a sense of morality. (Romans 2:14,15; Genesis 1:26)

The ontological argument - idea or concept implies existence
Where did futile man come up with the idea of an infinite being? (2 Thessalonians 1:6-10)

2 Timothy 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Acts 14:17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

Romans 1:18-21
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Hebrews 3:4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.

Psalms 19:1-6
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.
3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.
6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

Psalms 104:24 O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.

Psalms 139:14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

Job 12:7-10
7 But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:
8 Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.
9 Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?
10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

Romans 2:14,15
14For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
15Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

2 Thessalonians 1:6-10
6Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.
