"The king has commanded me a business.." ( 1 Samuel 21:1-2)
It has been said, "..there is no business like show business." But there is a business much more important. There is truly no business like God's business. ( 1 Timothy 6:15; Luke 2:49). The Lord's business was to save the lost (Luke 19:10).
Today, the work of the church, the Lord's business, is all important. Sadly, many do not know the fundamentals of the work of the church.
What does the Lord's business require?
The Greatest Planning (Ephesians 3:11)
There are more than 300 prophecies in the Old Testament which pointed toward the coming of Christ. There is a plan revealed to us in the Bible. We must plan the work so that we may effectively work the plan. The Greatest Product
The Bible's product is a divine product. Christ came into this world to offer salvation. He was and is that unique, divine product. The Greatest Promotion
The gospel message rang out in the first century. We should do the same today. We ought to be able and willing to pay any cost and bear any burden in seeking to promote the gospel of Christ. The Greatest Prospects
All have sinned (Romans 3:23). All people everywhere are prospects for the gospel! The Greatest Power
Human energy and effort is required to share the power of the gospel. To exert this energy is the greatest use of our individual "power" that we could ever put forth. The Greatest Participation
In this new year we have the opportunity to participate in the work of the church. Let us resolve to fully participate in the greatest work. There is so much to be done. Each one of us has that individual talent which we can put to use.The Greatest Priority
Jesus knew the priority of carrying out His Father's business. We should see the work of the church as a priority over all else.
1 Timothy 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords.
Luke 2:49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?
Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
Ephesians 3:11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
