2 Thessalonians 1:3-9
When we speak of the judgment, we are talking about that day when Jesus will return to this earth. On that day He will make a decision about each and every one of us. When will that day be? Only God knows (Mark 13:22). Fir many it will be a fearful day. Felix trembled when he learned about righteousness and temperance and the judgment to come (Acts 24:24-25).
God has intended that we know something about the judgment.
It is certain. (Acts 17:30,31; 2 Corinthians 5:10)
There is nothing that is more certain than this.It is universal. (Matthew 25;31,32; John 5:28,29)
Everyone will be there. Even all of those in the graves - all the countless people who have died in years past - will be there.It is individual. (Romans 14:12; 2 Corinthians 5:10)
In the judgment no one else can help us. The lives of others cannot be substituted for ours and save us. Judgment is an individual matter.It is impartial. (Acts 10:34; 1 Peter 4:17)
Social standing in this life will have no bearing on our salvation. On the day of judgment we will all be stripped of everything we have. The kings of this world will be judged alongside the paupers.It is thorough. (Ecclesiastes 12:14)
In judgment an man's life will be an open book. No one will be able to keep his sins hidden from God.It is final. (John 12:48)
On that day there will be no plea bargains. It will not be a day of last-minute preparing - only judgment will take place.It is necessary. (Hebrews 9:27)
The judgment is an appointment we will be required to meet. God, by His own nature, must exercise judgment. Without judgment, justice would not exist. In that supreme judgment, wrongs must be righted. God's justice demands it.God does not want that day of judgment, and we might correctly observe that it is a day that God does not look forward to, but Hid own moral purpose requires that the day come. And still, God wants us to know something about that day and He wants us to prepare for that day. Are you ready for the judgment?
2 Thessalonians 1:3-9
3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.Mark 13:32 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Acts 24:24,25
24 And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.
25 And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.Acts 17:30,31
30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
Matthew 25;31,32
31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:John 5:28,29
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.Romans 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
1 Peter 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
Ecclesiastes 12:14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
John 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
