Four Greats From John 3:16

John 3:16, the golden text of the Bible:

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life."

Jesus spoke these words to Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews and a Pharisee - a man who visit Jesus in the middle of the night.

"For God..." - the greatest being.
God possesses the greatest characteristics, and too the infinite degree. God is:

1) Omnipresent (Ezekiel 8:7-12). He is at all places at all times (Psalms 139:7-10).
2) Omnipotent. He is all powerful (Psalms 33:6-9). God spoke this world into existence. Knowing this alone if nothing more, we should fear God, and we should stand in awe of Him. We can also know that we can rely upon Him for all of our needs (2 Timothy 1:12).
3) Omniscient. God's understanding of this world and of each one of us is complete. He is simply all-knowing (Matthew 10:29,30).

"..so loved..." - the greatest feeling.
Love is more than something we just feel or say. We must show it in our actions. God's love for is the greatest example of perfect, complete love. God "so" loved us.

"..He gave his only begotten Son..." - the greatest gift.
This shows active love to the greatest extent. The value of the gift of His Son was beyond measure, and yet God gave this gift to us anyway (John 5:20).

"..whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." - the greatest promise.
This promise includes all people in the the world. It is a promise which God will keep to all who will but obey His will. (1 Timothy 2:3,4; John 2:2; John 8:32)

Ezekiel 8:7-12
7 And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall.
8 Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door.
9 And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.
10 So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed upon the wall round about.
11 And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah 12 Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, the LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.

Psalms 139:7-10
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

Psalms 33:6-9
6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.
8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

2 Timothy 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Matthew 10:29,30
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

John 5:20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.

1 Timothy 2:3,4
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

John 2:2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
