Hell is not a pleasant subject. It is synonymous with being lost eternally, as the result of the sins of mankind. God has always required retribution for sin, and the same will be true on the great day of judgment.
What will Hell be like?
- Everlasting fire (Matthew 25:41)
- Designed initially for Satan (Matthew 25:41)
- Everlasting punishment (Matthew 25:46)
- A place of torment (Revelation 20:10)
- Lake of fire (Revelation 20:10)
- Second death (Revelation 20:14)
Many people don't believe - and don't want to believe - in Hell. Yet these people are eager to accept the reality of Heaven. According to the Bible, both exist, and souls will go to both of these places. Yet God does not want people to be lost.
IF God wanted people to be lost:
1) Passages that speak about God's desire for man would be meaningless (2 Peter 3:9; 1 Timothy 2:4; Ezekiel 18:32)
2) Passages speaking of God's love for man are pointless (John 3:16; Romans 5:8; Ephesians 2:4)
Barriers to Hell
- God's word (James 1:21; 1 Peter 1:23; Psalms 119:105)
- The gospel of Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Romans 1:16)
- The plan of salvation- Faith (John 3:16); Repentance (Acts 17:30); Confession (Romans 10:10); Baptism (Acts 22:16)
This is God's plan for the alien sinner. It is the barrier between the lost soul and Hell.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
