The home was ordained by God and exists by His authority. It is designed for the good of man and for the well being of the human race. Sadly though, today the home is in a great crisis - a crisis which is growing at a tremendous rate and out of control.
This crisis can be identified with:
1) Rising divirce rate. About one half of all marriages end in divorce.
2) A decline in moral standards. With many, morals are just a joke.
3) A decline in ethical standards. Cheating is now more a rule than an exception.
4) A decline in religious conviction. Liberal and modernist theology has slowly been chipping away at conservative religious standards.
5) Lack in communication. The home is losing out in the valuable art of communication.
6) Artificial stimulants. Drugs have become a way of life for millions of people. Alcoholism has grown at an alarming rate, with now more than 30 million alcoholics in our nation.
7) Crime - among youth. Crime is growing four times faster than our population growth rate is, and 80% of all major crimes are committed by those under the age of 18.When the home crumbles, society as a whole is severely affected. In the 21st century there is a great need for a better understanding of marriage and the home. Too many "low-quality" marriages are being produced.
What can families do to curb the crisis?
- A growing love
- Use of good manners
- Family togetherness - playing together, eating together, visiting together, studying together, working together
- Each member made to feel important.
- Setting good examples
