Does everyone believe in God? Many claim not to, and that number is steadily growing. Belief in God cannot be merely assumed. We need to continually examine our belief in God 1) to strengthen our own faith and 2) to guide future generations.
Real faith in God is not blind - it has a solid foundation. It is built on real evidence (Hebrews 11:6).
The view which one holds in regard to either belief in or disbelief in God can be held only through faith. In other words, both positions, as opposite as they are, require faith. Even so, when we take a good look at each, we see that the evidences in favor of the existence of God are overwhelming. Let us look at a few:
Something is eternal
Something must be eternal, because something cannot come from nothing. Something has always been, or else nothing could ever exist. What is eternal? We have only to options - mind or matter. Nothing else exists. Which of the two seems the most logical to have always existed? Mind!Existence of the universe
Either this universe made itself, or it was made. Which of the two occurred? There is only one logical answer. It had its origin in another source than itself. It was formed by an all-powerful intelligence - God.Universal moral law
Where does moral law come from? Its existence means there must be an ultimate law-giver. Without a higher moral standard, man becomes his own standard. Is this sufficient for man? In the history of mankind has it ever been sufficient?Marks of intelligence
This world is abundant in marks of design and plan. One cannot look very far without seeing incredible design in nature. Is this design suggestive that the world formed itself accidentally?Man is a worshiping being
Man looks higher than himself. This attribute has always been natural to him. It is an attribute which separates him from the rest of the animal world.Great minds believe in God
To believe in God is to agree with the greatest minds this world has ever known.Atheism, the only alternative, has nothing to offer
Atheism want to rob us of God, and yet has nothing to replace God with. In its final form, atheism is hopelessness. The atheist is forced into a very awkward dilemma. He must defend a position that, even if it is true, he will never be able to know that is true. The atheist cannot know in this life that there is no God, and then, when he is dead, he will have no consciousness to know it then!
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
