MY TIMES ARE IN YOUR HAND
Houston Bynum

Time is such an intriguing subject. The old year of 2005 is fast drawing to a close. Someone says, "Where has the year gone-seems like it just started!"

When we were younger, we could hardly wait for the years to pass. Time seemed to move so slowly. Now that we are older, the years seem to move so rapidly. If you want time to move fast, it drags; if you want time to move slowly, it flies.

I like how David put it: "But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord, I say, 'You are my God.' My times are in Your hand" (Psalm 31:14-15a, NASB).

Trusting God makes sense. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6). An ideal method of time management is T-R-U-S-T. Trust God whole-heartedly. Don't depend on your own perspective-adopt His! If you acknowledge Him in every situation or circumstance, He will direct your path.

Why not offer this prayer daily? "Today, Lord, each hour is Yours-not mine. Whatever happens, I trust You completely. My time is in Your hands. Use me in Your service."

"There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven" (Ecclesiastes 3:1). Let go and let God. In other words, hand over to Him any and every anxiety about tomorrow.

Jesus announced the greatest time management principle of all. "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own" (Matthew 6:33-34).

"Time is filled with swift transitionBuild your hopes on things eternal, Hold to God's unchanging hand" (Jennie Wilson, 1904).
