The church at LaVergne is a friendly congregation, actively involved in the Lord's work. We believe in the authority of the Bible as it is God's divine message to man, and we advocate and strive for the unity of Jesus' one Church the world over. Members of the church of Christ look to the New Testament record for authority in all doctrinal matters. The church of Christ has no earthly headquarters and follows no man-made books or creeds. We seek to be the same church which the first Christians of the New Testaments were members of, Christ's one church.
We love visitors at LaVergne, and welcome you to join us for our weekly worship services whenever you have the opportunity! We encourage you to look at the "About Us" page for more information on the Church of Christ and what you can expect when you visit.

This is a group especially for the ladies of the congregation. They meet once a month to work on projects, discuss ways to help others in need, and what they can do to encourage others. We would love to have you as a part of our group!
(For more information on these and other programs and activites click here)
This is where you can submit any service project requests you have for our youth group service group. The group's name is a reference to the command we are given in Galatians 6:10 to "do good to everyone, especially those who are the household of faith." We are constantly looking for opportunities to serve! If you or someone you know could use our services (yardwork, running errands, visitation, house cleaning, babysitting, etc.), please let us know so that we can help!
Elders Deacons Ministers Staff Links
During Jesus' earhtly ministry He provided the perfect example of how we should live our lives, both through His words and actions. After his death, the Apostles were given then responsiblity to continue sharing the soul saving gospel message of Christ with the world (Acts 1:7-8) and on the Day of Pentacost, they established the Lord's church (Acts 2:1-38). Our mission is to be the modern day church that Jesus established some 2000 years ago. We are committed to simply following God's word, the Bibile, nothing more and nothing less.
The Church of Christ is an undenomination gathering of Christians whose main purpose is the restoration and propagation of pure, simple New Testament Christianity. We recognize that the church which belongs to the Lord may be called or described by any of its names or descriptions found in the Bible, but most use the term found in Romans 16:16 ("The churches of Christ salute you.") because it gives glory to the one one who purchased the church with His own blood, and looks to the church as his bride (Acts 20:28, Ephesians 5:22-33)
As Christians, we desire the unity of all believers, just as the Lord also desires (John 17:11, 20-23), and the apostles preached (I Corinthians 1:10). Christian unity is not possible as long as men cling to denominations, creeds, and practices. It is our earnest plea that all who serve Christ would leave behind the traditions of men and seek to be simply Christians. Further, we belive that God has spoken to man-kind; the Bible is God's word to all humanity. The Bible is the infallible, unalterable, complete, and inspired authoritative message to mankind from God, and must be adhered to in order to be saved.
Outside of jesus, all acountable humanity is in sin, and therefore lost and separated from God (Romans 3:23, Isaiah 59:1-2). Anyone who dies while yet in his sins is destined for eternal punishment in hell (Luke 12:5, II Peter 2:1-9). This sad fact doesn't have to be, however, because God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for you and me that we may be saved (John 3:16). Jesus commands that we believe in Him (John 8:24), that we confess this faith before others (Matthew 10:32), that we repent (or turn away) of our sins (Luke 13:2-5), and that any who would be saved must be baptized (Mark 16:16) for the remission (forgiveness) of sins (Acts 2:38). The baptized believer then must simply live a faithful life before God (Revelation 2:10, Hebrews 10:25) in order to receive the reward on judgment day (Matthew 25:31-46).
Please read the scriptures given in the parentheses above and ask yourself if you've faithfully come to the Lord for salvation. Ask yourself if you are a member of a chruch that is seeking only to be a Bible based church, or if rather it is a church based on the traditions of men as stated in creeds, councils, and conventions. If you have concerns, questions, or doubts, or would like a free home Bible study, or correspondence course, please contact us at one of the numbrs or addresses provided on the " Contact Us " Page. May God bless you in your search for the truth (John 8:32).
We love visitors, and we understand that attending a church for the first time can be intimidating and uncomfortable. We'd like to help take away some of those nervous feelings by letting you know what you will find when you visit any of our weekly services.
Friendliness You are our honored guest! Therefor, you can expect a warm, friendly welcome no matter your background. We will not single you out, question you, or do anything else to bring unwanted attention that may be embarrassing. Our goal is to produce an environment where everyone feels welcome and comfortable so that each person can apply their full focus on praising and worshipping God.
Singing We are commanded to sing for the purposes of praising God, and to teach and advise one another (Ephesians 5:19). You will probably notice that the whole congregation sings together and that we do so without the use of any instruments other than our voice, which is in keeping with the teachings of the New Testament (Colossians 3:16).
Lord's Supper Every Sunday (Acts 20:7), those who are baptized believers partake in this supper that was instituded by Jesus as a memorial of his death (Matthew 26:26-29). This is a time when Christians are to concentrate on the events of the cross and through this act of worship, we have fellowship with Christ (I Corinthians 10:16).
Giving The Bible teaches that every Christian is to give as God has given to us on the first day of the week (I Corinthians 16:1-2). When the offering is taken it is completely up to each individual to decide whether they will give or not. We will not embarrass you by personally asking for an offering.
Prayer Men of the church (I Timothy 2:8-13) will vocally lead a prayer, while the congregation silently listens and follows his words. This allows us to worship in a respectful and orderly manner (I Corinthians 14:40).
Teaching In our Bible classes and worship services, we strive to present lessons that are completely Christ-centered and come directly from the Bible. Our teachers will provide scriptures for you to refrence so that you can see for yourself that what you hear is the truth.
Invitation At the close of each sermon, an invitation will be offered. This is an opportunity for those who are ready to do so, to give their life to Christ by expressing their faith in Him (John 8:34), repent of their sins (Luke 13:3), confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior(Matthew 10:32), and being baptized into Christ (Mark 16:16). While this opportunity is given at each of our weekly services, we want you to know that the invitation is extended always, regardless of the time or day.
We want to offer every one that attends the LaVergne congregation with opportunities to grow through fellowship with one another. Below are some of the programs that we offere to ensure that everyone has the oppotunity to be an active member.

This is a group for ALL ladies in the congregation to have the opportunity to work and help others. Our name comes from Proverbs 31:30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. We meet once a month to work on specific projects, talk about how we can help others in need, and/or what we can do to encourage others. There will also be opportunities to help with projects outside of our regular meetings. Every lady has something to offer this group, even if you are not able to come to the monthly meeting. There is a bulletin board in the fellowship room by the kitchen designated for this group. It will include a calendar, and upcoming projects, special requests, sign up lists, etc. Any questions can be directed to Stasia Spivy at snspivy_gmail.com.
